It was a dreary, drab affair – much like the weather – and in truth, it was really what most of us expected. Two teams with nothing to play for conjured up a game that had little to offer.
The first half was a dreadful spectacle as two teams attacked with urgency but the quality was scarce. Tom Davies’ thunder blaster was the relative highlight of a dim first half as he charged forward and let loose forcing a quality save from Heurelho Gomes.
Beyond that, nothing.
The second half was much improved as Ross Barkley slotted home what will likely be his last goal for Everton. Another player who isn’t likely to score again for Everton is Romelu Lukaku, who ended a Goodison career with a fizzle rather than a spark with a lethargic display.
But, there was some better performances amongst the otherwise mediocre Everton side, so let’s find out what they were.
