Everton U23’s headed one step closer to lifting the Premier League 2 crown with a comprehensive mauling of a poor Spurs side on a chilly evening at Goodison Park.
The first half was largely uneventful, seeing mainly half-chances, mistakes in midfield and more slips than a drunken Stevie G at the Ba!
Everton’s best chance came from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who headed just wide from a neat cross from Ademola Lookman.

Spurs offered very little, their best chance coming from their right-winger (didn’t catch his name, let’s call him Dave), who jinked his way into the box before being wonderfully blocked by Morgan Feeney, who had a superb night at the back. Other than that, the heating effects of the Goodison steak pie had worn off, as I began to regret leaving the warmth of my house for a mostly drab first half.
Those regrets were cast away fairly soon, however, as the second half burst into life. Everton opened the scoring through Lookman, shining it into the bottom corner at the back post to salvage an otherwise poor performance from the £11m man.
His replacement, Bassala Sambou, doubled the young blues lead a few minutes later, with a fantastic turn before beautifully curling the ball into the top corner. Spurs pulled one back soon after through Isaiah Sterling, but it proved no more than a consolation as Kieran Dowell curled in another edge-of-the-box beauty to restore the blues two-goal cushion. Calvert-Lewin added a fourth late on, capitalising on a mix-up in the Spurs defence to hit home with ease.

In all, an easy night for the Blues, with standouts including Antonee Robinson providing a threat down the left all night, Joe Williams with all the skill and prowess of a more experienced head, and Domelu Calvert-Lewkakin leading the line and being a handful for the shaky Spurs defence.
Plus, the return of Mo Besic, who dictated the game through the first half on his long road to being back to his murderously terrifying best.
If tonight was anything to go by, the future looks bright at Everton Football Club.
