Very rough football week this one, isn’t it? Started off with that game at that place, only to find ourselves at Old Trafford 3 days later to be frustrated at the death after Ashley Williams’ heel turn coveted us two valuable points.
However, to not look back in anger, as that ditty goes, we look forward to Leicester and all the wonders of playing them at Goodison. Which, if you cast your mind back a few months, it wasn’t quite wonderful. An odd chip in a nearly-flawless run left a lasting mark on the collective armour of the Blues as we crashed out of the FA Cup to a Leicester side in freefall, and Claudio Ranieri about to be thrown off the metaphorical cliff.
Now that the weight of the wonderful Italian man is off their shoulders, Shakespeare has taken over to write the next chapter in Leicester’s fantastical story. 5 wins in 5.
But this tale is Koeman’s – technically mine but that’s not my narrative here – and let’s focus on our lovely blues, just As You Like It.
After that one at that lot on Saturday, we fought tremendously on Tuesday night and came away with less than what we deserved, against a top side nonetheless. Our form is good, but Leicester’s is better. They’re resurgent under Shakespeare and look to garner a 6th win in 6.
We’re just looking to get through it with a full squad for next week.
Team.
Or what’s left of it.
