Everton have agreed a deal to purchase a waterfront site at Bramley Moore dock, upon which they plan to build a new stadium.
As reported by Andy Hunter of the Guardian, the Blues have reached a financial agreement with landowner Peel Holdings that will see them purchase the land, although no specific details have been given in terms of cost etc.
The Merseysiders are expected to announce the new stadium plans in the coming days with Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson set to reveal the full details of the council’s involvement after a meeting with the city’s council.
Farhad Moshiri, the club’s major shareholder, is still yet to acquire the funding for the new stadium and as such, the deal to purchase the land won’t be made official until such a time where all of the funds are in place.
However, this deal looks to be the first major step on the road to Everton leaving Goodison Park and making the move to a new stadium on the Bramley Moore dock.
