It’ll do like. We made that as hard for ourselves as we possibly could, in a game that we were never troubled
We started off very strong with Baines linking up well with both Davies an Gana, and the early pressure paid off (eventually) as Gana smashed home his first Everton goal after a Séamus Coleman cross weaved its way through the hopeless Sunderland defence.
We didn’t stop there as the game went on exactly as it started. It was a constant tide of Everton pressure (and far too many passes) with little Sunderland resistance, and any of Moyes’ side’s fight took its shape as hoofed clearances, with various Pickford ballistic missiles masquerading as goal kicks sprinkled on for good measure.
Second half resumed as expected, although more frustrating as Sunderland nearly equalised through the mostly neutralised Jermain Defoe, as he broke the crossbar in half.
Panic averted, Coleman off the line.
Lukaku scored. 2-0. Three points.
Ratings then.
