So it’s been a while, and it feels like even longer seeing as last time out was an affair best left forgotten. A dire 0-0 against Middlesbrough where nobody stood out.
So, this time around we welcome back a few familiar faces in Darron Gibson, Jack Rodwell, Joleon Lescott, Bryan Oviedo, Steven Pienaar, Victor Anichebe and last but not least, David Moyes. Or to shorten it down, we welcome Sunderland, and all that entails.
Sunderland are in a mess, and that’s probably an understatement. They’re looking likely to be relegated and show no signs of improving, while Everton seem to be on the up and up, as it goes. We have been scintillating at home in recent weeks, winning 3-0 against Southampton, 4-0 against City and the latest barnstormer that was Bournemouth, in which it looked like we were going to completely bottle the game – harking back to the years which we loved all so much under Roberto Martinez – and then went on to score three goals in 15 minutes.
Standard Everton.
So, in order to stack up against what seems to be Everton reserves, we’ll need a First XI.
Here’s mine.
