Coming off of a great win going into the New Year Fixtures is always nice, and it gives us a tonne of momentum if nothing else.
I thought we played well against Leicester, albeit horrendously dull. We controlled the game, killed what little atmosphere was hiding behind those Vardy masks and inflicted Claudio Ranieri’s third defeat at the King Power as Leicester boss. We took our chances (Besides Gana, but let’s not dwell) and came away deserving winners.
Mirallas latched on to a long ball from Joel Robles to score a distinctly Kevin Mirallas goal. One touch to control it, one touch away from goal and the finish across his body, accompanied by the failed attempt at a block by Martin Wasilewski.
Then Romelu Lukaku did what he does best, muscling off Wes Morgan, who’s not exactly a lightweight, to power on past the, by this point probably feeling very unlucky, Martin Wasilewski. He slotted home confidently past Schmeichel.
But he doesn’t run. Sell him, re-sign Beckford. He runs a bit.
Hull have been a bit down-in-the-dumps since the permanent appointment of Mike Phelan, so on paper, coming off of a resurgence of sorts, Everton should win comfortably.
1-0 Hull.
Team.
