Everton are looking to sign Danish midfielder Thomas Delaney from Werder Bremen in January, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Delaney is currently contracted to FC Copenhagen but agreed a deal in the summer to join Werder Bremen on January 1, 2017. The report claims Everton were interested in Delaney during the summer and were told he could join them for as little as £1.3m, however, Everton decided to pursue their interest no further and Delaney joined the Bundesliga outfit.
The Toffees are willing to pay Bremen £5.5m for the midfielder in January, which would be a significant profit for the German club.
Delaney is part of Ronald Koeman’s plan to improve the Everton midfield, with Manchester United pair Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay also reportedly set to join the Merseyside club.
Everton’s next match is away to Leicester City on Boxing Day, where they will look to improve following their defeat in the Merseyside Derby to Liverpool.
