Everton show they mean business with a ruthless performance against Sunderland as Lukaku makes breaks his goal drought in the perfect manner.
The two clubs struggled to take the game by the scruff of it’s neck during the first half, with both the Black Cat’s and the Toffee’s having the odd chance in on goal.
Jermain Defoe found himself in on goal after a deflected shot came over his shoulder but the Englishman could not guide his shot past Maarten Stekelenburg. Romelu Lukaku then had a chance of his own with a free header which was straight at goalkeeper Jordon Pickford.
The Blues stepped it up a couple of gears after the break, Gerard Deulofeu coming on for Ross Barkley and changing the game. Idrissa Gueye provided for Rom’s first standing the ball at the back post for the Belgian to head in, while Yannick Bolasie did the same for Rom’s second.
Kevin Mirallas then provided a brilliant through ball for Lukaku to get his hat-trick, finishing past Pickford who was left standing as the ball nestled behind him.
The Blues are now up to 3rd in the table, joint 2nd with Chelsea and face Middlesbrough next.
