As the Everton squad return back home from their disappointing trip to Germany for the Dresden Cup, some notable omissions from the squad taken to the pre-season tournament should be looked at.
New to the club, Koeman would have taken pre-season as an opportunity to evaluate all the players which he considers to have first team potential.
Everton took a 25-man squad, including 4 outfield players under the age of 22 who have made less than 3 appearances each for the Toffees: Tom Davies, Mason Holgate, Conor Grant and Kieran Dowell.
However, there were 5 other players who were emitted from the squad who are not only older than those players above but also have more than 700 appearances combined in their careers.
One could argue that this surely means the following 5 players are evidently not part of the Dutchman’s plans, and now after they haven’t been given squad numbers, their path as an Everton player is likely to come to an end.
