Everton snatched a priceless three points as Tom Cleverley scored a header with the last action of the game to leave Newcastle in the relegation zone.
It looked set to be another frustrating draw, the Blues dominated for large periods but were unable to make their possession count.Chances for Romelu Lukaku were well saved by Rob Elliot while Tim Howard impressively saved a header from Ayoze Perez at the back post.
Although not a routine performance, the game now provides the groundwork to go on and continue their climb up the table towards the European spots while they belong.
