Everton could be set to miss out on an Italian centre-back once again, according to the Express.
Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia, 27, was on Roberto Martinez’s radar in the summer as a potential replacement for John Stones, and it is thought that the Spaniard may move again for him in January.
Ranocchia is keen on a move away from the San Siro in order to earn a place in the Italian squad for Euro 2016. He has made just 5 appearances for Roberto Mancini’s men this season.
However, Serie A giants Roma have now joined the race for the Italian, as they make contingency plans should one-time Everton target Kostas Manolas move to Chelsea. The Italians are thought to be resigned to losing the Greek international in January, making a move for Ranocchia likely.
Newcastle United are also interested in Ranocchia as a replacement for Fabricio Coloccini, who new manager Steve McClaren may look to offload.
