Everton to cash in on Celtic CB
According to STV, Virgil van Dijk is the latest defender linked with a move to Everton this summer, with Roberto Martinez ready to pay the £10 million pounds that Celtic have slapped on their star man.
Southampton, Sunderland and Norwich have been linked with van Dijk, but it is understood that they aren’t willing to pay an eight-figure sum.
The 6ft 4’ defender joined the Scottish champions two years ago for £2.5 million and has won the SPL with the Hoops twice.
Everton have been searching all summer for a centre half after releasing Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz at the end of last season.
England hopeful on his way to Goodison?
Charlie Austin has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer following QPR’s relegation to the Championship last season, with the Daily Mirror reporting that the Toffees are now eager to sign the striker.
Head Coach Chris Ramsey believes Austin will leave but the club want £15 million pounds for the 26-year old.
Austin netted 18 times for Rangers last season.
