BARTON PRAISES STONES IN CYNICAL SWIPE AT FORMER CLUB CITY
Chelsea’s rejected bid of £20 million pounds for Everton’s centre half John Stones left Joey Barton with a lot to say over the matter.
The former QPR captain took to Twitter to heap praise on the youngster, calling him a “future England captain” and compared him to a young Rio Ferdinand.
He also tweeted: “Stones £20 million, Sterling £49 million. If this is true than football transfers no longer make any sense.”
“Can’t see Everton selling at £20 million in the current market. If (Eliaquim) Mangala was €38 million then Stones is surely at least that? No?”
EX- MAN UNITED DEFENDER TO COME IN?
The Toffees boss also has a centre half on the top of his wish list after missing out on Angelo Ogbonna, who signed for West Ham United this summer.
Reports from Forza Italian Football claim that Everton plan to try and raid Serie A once again, by enquiring about the availability of ex-Manchester United centre back Nemanja Vidic.
The 33-year old endured an average first season for Roberto Mancini’s side as the club finished eighth in the Italian top division.
Inter are looking to sell in order to buy and Vidic is one of those players seen as a possible sacrifice for younger, fresher talent.
YOUNGSTER LOOKING TO LEAVE FOR FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL.
One man looking to leave Goodison Park is Everton prodigy Chris Long, according to the Daily Mail.
Long, who spent last season on loan at Brentford, wants to play more first team football in order to enhance his footballing career.
The 20-year old scored four goals for the Bees in the Championship last season, and is a transfer target for Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Burnley.
Everton would rather let the player go on loan than sell him.
